texchange

Not just for Texchange members, this is a pre-season kickoff happy hour at the Tap Room. For those who have not been to Texchange it’s a statewide organization for executives in the technology industry, with chapters in Austin, Dallas, and Houston. Some of Austin’s most successful tech executives are members, and come to our roundtable discussions and dinners. This is a great resource for entrepreneurs. If you’re curious, show up, say hello, and meet some [...]

mobileTech Tuesday, by Steve Guengerich Yes, I know it’s mid-July. Summertime is in full swing. The heat is hot and the rain is not in Austin. The next “official” US holiday, Labor Day, is a nearly seven weeks away on September 5 – an eternity in mobi time. But, my friend, there’s no time like the present to (urgently) plan for an onslaught of events that provide opportunities to learn, sell, and network with people [...]

Linux Against Poverty is hosting their 2nd annual Install Fest tomorrow at Union Park, which will conclude their drive to put computers in the hands of Austin area children who currently don’t have a computer or internet access at home.

I just got back from the Ubiquity Marketing UnSummit, which was created by Jason Stoddard’s new company Stagira. Putting together an all day event, with multiple speakers, and an out of town keynote speaker is a daunting task. A full day sounds like a lot, but the variety of viewpoints represented by the speakers could have easily taken two days. There were experts in social media marketing, branding, PR, and word of mouth. These people [...]

There are very few really great marketing events in Austin, and the upcoming Ubiquity Marketing UnSummit is shaping up to be one of them. This is a full day, packed with relevant and current marketing information. The day is highlighted by Chris Brogan, the author of Trust Agents, Using the Web to Build Influence, Improve Reputation, and Earn Trust. Chris will be doing a deep dive into the book contents, which alone would be worth [...]

It’s time to vote for your favorite panels again! Here’s a sample of some of the panels where I found some local Austinites promoting. [On a side note, will a usability person please help this website design?] Matt Chasen – Unsexy and Profitable: Making $$ Without Hype Thom Singer – Networking at a Multi-Day Conference Nik Daftary – Making Dollars and Sense out of the Semantic Web Juan Sequeda – What the Hell is the [...]

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since Conjunctured, Austin’s first co-working space, opened it’s doors to the public. To celebrate, they’re throwing a little shindig over at the office. There will be snacks, music, and dancing. The festivities begin at 7pm on Saturday the 15th. Stop by and celebrate along with a great crowd of entrepreneurs and freelancers.

If you are an investor, a member of the press, or an entrepreneur, this is an event you will really want to attend. Demo Day is the culmination of Capital Factory’s 10 week business incubator program, and you will see demos from the 5 companies; Cubit Planning, Famigo, Hourville, PetsMD, and SpareFoot. This event is invitation only, and if you’re on the list you received an invitation today. If you didn’t receive that, you can [...]

It’s that time of year again when Inc. Magazine publishes their list of the 500 fastest growing companies in the country. For the second year in a row, they have expanded the list to 5,000. You can see the entire list of companies, or if  you’d like you can see just the companies based in the Austin region. Last week I sat down with Jon Armstrong, CEO of AdLucent (#73 and the fastest growing tech [...]
