Next One’s On Me Launches for SXSW

Good things come to those who wait and Austin has waited long enough. Sara Rodell and Jeffrey Schwartz introduced their new mobile application, Next One’s On Me, or NOOM, last night at a private launch party at Ranch 616. The event, with an invite list of 300 tech savvy individuals, debuted their mobile app that allows users to spontaneously treat their friends to drinks, eats, lattes and more, all through their phone.

Rodell and Schwartz left their financial careers with UBS in NewYork and Sony Pictures in LA, respectively, to head back to the Lone Star state and launch their collaborative business dream. They’re both motivated by the idea of sharing something more than a simple text or email with their friends to acknowledge birthdays, accomplishments, and those moments you simply want to make someone smile.

The beta version of NOOM is now in the Apple App Store listed as “Give NOOM.” Android users can access NOOM via mobile web by visiting www.noom.me. The team will soon be releasing a native Android app. Users can currently give Treat, Beer, and Bar & Bite NOOMs to friends to redeem at nearly 25 local favorites including Amy’s Ice Creams, Caffe Medici, Manuel’s, Kenichi, Ranch 616, Zax and Trianon. The application is exclusively in Austin with plans to expand to new markets soon.

NOOM is a company focused on transacting thoughtfulness. The app is designed to highlight the act of spontaneous giving and allows users to send NOOMs to their friends before that big job interview, after a significant achievement, or as an unexpected pick-me-up at the end of a long week.

NOOM wants to treat you this Saturday, March 10th at their first public event during SXSW at Caffe Medici on Congress, in Austin,Texas. Coffee and Hey Cupcake cupcakes on them from 9-11am – come learn how easy NOOM makes it to say “Next One’s on Me.” For more information go to www.noom.me or email info@noom.me
