Google Streetview Coming to Austin

google-maps-insideEarlier in the year the good folks at Google announced that they were going to start taking StreetView into some actual retail establishments. A much more difficult task than driving a car around the city street. Last week I was at J. Black’s and bumped into one such interior photographer. The place was rather dark, so the exposure times were long, but she spent tons of time taking photographs and said she was off to the Star Bar next.

Part of me wanted to follow her around and be in a ton of pictures so that all my friends would think I was the most frequent bar patron in Austin history. But I settled for trying to remain still for about 30 seconds, working on my iPad, for her interior shot of J. Black’s. The question is will they blur my face out? Will my wife see it and wonder how much time I spend at J. Black’s?

When you see Streetview roll out its interior Austin shots, please send me a shout out so I can see if I’m famous!
