AustinStartup is officially announcing today that it has been acquired by mega blogging giant TechCrunch Media Properties & Holdings, Inc. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but officials at AustinStartup are confirming that they will be moving their headquarters to the new Frost Tower downtown. The acquisition is said to be part of a strategic decision by TCMP&H to get into the local tech news business.

“They just backed up the money truck and unloaded it on our doorstep,” said guest blogger Steve Wozniak. “Now we have fifteen open requisitions for bloggers, video producers, editors, and photographers. Who says the economy is in shambles?”

The acquisition will slightly change the focus on the blog by adding other vertical markets to cover, including the location-aware baby stroller industry, and the fully integrated B2B paradigm shifting platform market. With the new deep pockets, AustinStartup intends to lure Robert Scoble away from his new job at Rackspace, and initiate a hostile takeover of Mahalo.

Comments:
  1. Basin Street Records folds, New Orleans indie media/clothing company Dirty Coast gets acquired by Urban Outfitters, and now this.

April 1 is a day which will truly live in infamy.

  2. that’s a pretty good one. Love the Steve Wozniak reference.
