rf-code-tagRF Code, provider of “wire-free” critical asset monitoring solutions, today announced Asset Manager, a real-time asset management solution that provides up-to-the minute information about an asset’s exact location and movement, security and environmental status, without requiring any manual labor to gather this information. It then instantly alerts when changes occur.

San-Antonio, Texas-based Clear Channel Communications uses RF Code’s Asset Manager in its data center.

Having a complete and accurate view into their asset inventory allows those in the asset management food chain — from asset managers to department managers to IT professionals to accounting and legal professionals — to make the timeliest, most cost-effective and fact-based decisions regarding assets under their care. The solution is ideal for a variety of customers, including healthcare, IT/data center, retail and industrial organizations who want to gain a firmer hand over their asset inventory.

Because of its open architecture, Asset Manager easily integrates into the market’s leading back end systems, adding automated real time asset information into such systems as IBM Tivoli Asset Management for IT, HP AssetCenter and others.

“Millions of dollars are at stake for those organizations that don’t have the real time information they need to manage assets across the lifecycle,” said Mitch Medford, RF Code CEO. “We dub this the ‘information latency problem,’ which occurs when organizations act on information based on a ‘last taken’ inventory. The cost of this is astounding: from having to manually gather asset information from barcode or passive RFID scans; to overprovisioning because of lack of insight into where a lost, moved or hoarded asset might be; to legal jeopardy from heightened compliance risk from inaccurate asset audits; to data vulnerability from lack of knowledge of an asset’s location. Asset Manager attacks information latency head on.”

In a related move, RF Code also announced Sensor Manager, a wire-free environmental monitoring solution based on the company’s active RFID sensors and management software. Sensor Manager automatically collects data from temperature and humidity sensors that can be flexibly placed anywhere in a dense environment, such as a data center, where monitoring is called for. This wire-free approach eliminates the problems related to hard-wired environmental systems that are expensive to redeploy or reconfigure dynamically.

Both Asset Manager and Sensor Manager leverage RF Code’s wire-free infrastructure so that customers seeking an environmental solution, for example, can easily add asset monitoring or asset security capabilities quickly and affordably. This approach protects customers’ asset awareness investments and enables them to enhance their monitoring efforts as their needs change.
