AT&T Acquiring Wayport

Technically Wayport moved their headquarters to Dallas a while back, but there are significant operations still here in Austin. The news came across the wire today that AT&T is acquiring Wayport for $275M. Wayport operates more than 10,000 WiFi hotspots at McDonalds restaurants alone, plus thousands more at Radisson, Hilton, and Wyndham chains.

Any deal is amazing in today’s market. Congrats to the folks at Wayport!

  1. How long has WayPort been around? Good for WayPort!

  2. I guess I could have looked for myself. They were founded in 1996. From their website, “Wayport was founded in June, 1996 and today has headquarters in Irving, TX, and European headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark.”
