Wireless Regulation

Interesting panel at the Texas Wireless Summit today with folks like Wallace Henderson from the TRPSA and Meredith Attwell-Baker of the NTIA. Very timely given the election as well. Probably too much detail for you, unless you’re really interested in various parts of the wireless spectrum, and the regulatory aspects of them. If that interests you, you’re probably already here.

However, there seems to be consensus that the presidential election will have an impact upon the wireless industry. If Obama gets elected, the panel all seems to agree that the domination of a small number of carriers will get reviewed (i.e. the democrats will try to break-up AT&T again). Woo hoo! I’ve been to this movie, and all we got was higher rates and terrible service. That alone could almost make me vote Republican.

On the flip side there was a report on Obama’s economic incentive plan, which included no tax on capital gains from investments in startup and early stage companies (the news source was attempting to clarify that with the campaign). So the other half of my vote wants to go Democrat.

What’s a connected consumer to do?
