Ascension Orthopedics LogoAscension Orthopedics started in Austin back in 1996 by two doctors who were pioneering the field of carbon implants. In 2001 the company received FDA approval on their first product, a total joint replacement for the knuckle. The current product line includes implants for the shoulder, elbow, wrist, fingers, and toes. Today the company announced $21M in a Series D financing which will help expand the product line, enhance product marketing, and support the distrbution network. They also announced Andrew Miclot will join the company as CEO, replacing co-founder Jerome Klawitter. Mr. Miclot was previously an executive with Orthofix, and has also held senior positions at Symmetry Medical, DePuy, and Zimmer.
