ArthoCare Corp., an Austin-based publicly traded company, announced today that it had completed the acquisition of DiscoCare Inc., a third-party billing and reimbursement services provider, on Dec. 31 for $25 million in cash plus potential future milestone payments. ArthoCare is a recently transplanted company to Austin that focuses on providing medical devices. Like our other local publicly traded companies (Dell, Freescale, etc.), it is always good to see M&A activity from an entrepreneurial perspective, and given the recent surge in bio, pharma, and healthcare technology in Austin, this is especially exciting!
