Buffalo Technology, which has it’s US headquarters in Austin, announced an external Blu-Ray and HD DVD player at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). It’s the first consumer device of its kind to read and write both content formats. The device can connect to a computer through a USB cable. Retail price is expected to be around $649. The Central Texas Angel Network announced that in 2007 they funded $1.2M across 9 early stage companies. They reviewed 120 business plans from applicants, 18 of them made it to presentation phase, and 9 got funding.
