Alereon Goes Private Label

Alereon
Alereon, a fabless semiconductor company developing UltraWideBand (UWB) chipsets, announced it’s private label program today for its AL5000 chipset. With Alereon’s private lable program, a vendor with USB products could add UWB capability and bring the product to market in as little as four weeks. Alereon’s products come pre-certified from the FCC, WiMedia Alliance, and USB-IF. The program comes with complete designs, documentation, and all software required to develop your product. "This new private label program is the fastest way for aftermarket vendors to get Certified Wireless USB products to market," according to company CEO Eric Broockman.

Being a fabless semi company isn’t exactly cheap. The company has raised about $40M over the years. The worldwide market for UWB peripherals, and the customer value in eliminating many wires from your desk, is tremendous.
