InnographylogoInnography Inc., an Austin-based
startup developing software to police the infringement of patents, has
announced that it has raised $750,000 in seed money from Hunt Ventures. The company gathers information  and market intelligence through data which is publicly available, including securities filings, industry
reports and patent registrations, aiming to manage, protect, optimize, and ensure
compliance with a client’s patents. Specifically, the company hopes to allow its users to identify potential
infringers of a single patent or an entire portfolio of patents, be able to finding
corporate patents related to a lawsuit to use in filing counter claims, and even identify
potential invalidating patents that pre-date a given patent and identify
potential hot spots for litigation. Given the surge in IP related lawsuits and the rise of "patent trolls", this
technology looks to have a large market to pursue. The
one-year old company is reportedly seeking a $5-6 million Series A round. We’ll try to reach out to the company and see
if we can get additional information…readers feel free to comment your thoughts
as well!
